Den Meeting Tonight at Cave Spring

A Few Questions
I was hoping one of you would have a good space for a few of our upcoming meetings. For one requirement for the Wolf badge, we need to cook a healthy meal... does anyone have a kitchen that could accomodate our boys (and be willing to host)? One with an island/peninsula would be ideal, but as long as there's counter space and a little room, we could make it work. Mine is a small galley kitchen that is in the remodelling process. Please let me know.
Another requirement is learning about tools... does anyone have a workshop they could host the boys in? Garage, basement, etc? We could bring the tools we need to use to the church, but it would work a lot better if we had workshop space.
Last question... would moving next week's Den Meeting (Wed, 12 October) up to 6pm (from 6:30pm) be a possibility for everyone? I was hoping to have a hike/treasure hunt in this terrific autumn weather, but am afraid of the increasingly earlier sunset times. We would be ok having it from 6-7pm, but 6:30-7:30pm wouldn't be safe. After last week's meeting, I wanted to have one that lets the boys run around a little... :)
You can email me back with your input, or (preferably) you could leave your feedback on the comments section of this post. One more thing on the blog: I updated the calendar (to the right) with ALL of our future Den Meetings, Pack Meetings, and events. You can click forward to see future events, and click on the event for more details.
Thanks!

Campout and Den Meeting
Thanks for representing the Wolf Den so well at the Campout! It was a lot of fun... the next campout will be the Blue & Gold campout in late Spring. Attached are some pictures... I tried to get all of the boys, but unfortunately I didn't get any (that turned out) of Mason or Fredrick. Sorry, guys!

Campout Details
Who: The whole family is welcome, Scouts should be in uniform.
Cost: $8/person (including adults and siblings... I'm not sure about very young siblings. I would say use your judgement on this), cash or check
Food Provided: Dinner Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning (I suggest bringing your own supplements... last year was hot dogs and baked beans)
Weather: Rain or shine
Facilities present: Restrooms with running water, can't remember if there are showers
Bring: Your own tent, sleeping bags, toiletries, extra clothes, warm clothes, camping chairs, flashlights, etc
Do not bring: Electronics, pets, alcohol, firearms, fireworks
Where: Longview Lake Group Camping Area on Highgrove Road (google map at right). The easiest way to get there, in my opinion, is to go south on 71 and take the Main Street exit in Grandview. Go LEFT (EAST) on Main Street (you will go over 71), and Main Street turns into Highgrove Road. Go 1.7 miles (you will go past Grandview High School) to a four way stop when you reach Grandview Road on Highgrove Road. Go straight at the intersection and turn right in about 0.5 miles, into the camping area. I believe there is a white sign with red non-descript characters at the entrance, and the road goes uphill to a parking area. Please park and find our Pack (several Packs will be camping there). Call me if you get lost, and I will do my best to direct you in.
Email me (danbird1975@yahoo.com) with questions, or call me (816.686.6763) with questions after 4pm on Friday. Hope to see you all there! dan

Wolf Den Meeting 2- Our Living Planet
Hi Wolf Den! I was really, really proud of the boys (and their sisters!) for conducting themselves so well today at UMKC. They represented themselves, our Den, and our Pack extraordinarily well (and asked some great questions, too)... I was very impressed with them. If everyone brings their Wolf book to the Pack Meeting on Monday night, I'll be sure to get all of their books signed for the achievements we earned.
I'm going to attempt to post a few pictures from tonight in this blog post... feel free to leave any comments. See everyone Monday night!
Cub Scouts (and parents) listening to Dr. Richardson explain the river model and how they plan to implement their engineering solution on the Platte River, to save the shore from eroding at the bend.
Scouts racing the paper boats that they made down the river model. The current moves fast!
Pack 50 Wolf Den with their boats. What a fun meeting!

Please have your boys wear their uniforms if they have them (and bring your Wolf Handbooks); if they don't have them yet, that's ok, but please make sure they get them by the first Pack Meeting on Monday, 19 September. Hope to see you all tomorrow (Tue)!
